Soft Toss

Soft toss is a great way for a batter to see more "pitches" and work on their swing, especially when a tee in unavailable or time is limited.

Warning: I recommend using socks rolled into a ball and taped with medical tape or large wiffle balls to hit during soft toss. If you use these, players can do soft-toss with each other, rather than always needing a coach to throw.

Line the batter up approximately four to five feet away from a fence (that is at least 6 feet tall - the higher the better). From the side, flip the ball, making sure to throw a ball with little arc, and allow the batter to swing.

EMPHASIZE: HIP TURN AND FEET TURN. HIPS, ARMS AND LEGS SHOULD ALL COME THROUGH TOGETHER, AND HEAD SHOULD STAY DOWN. MAKE SURE THE PLAYER'S BACK FOOT IS NOT UP ON THE TOE.
