Shuffle Drill

This is as simple as it sounds. Have the players get into a line and call one player out so that he has enough room on both sides to move about 10 feet each way.

You can run this one of two ways:

A) You can have them field a ball as they shuffle each way, getting their body into position and flipping it back to you.

OR

B) You can have them shuffle each way as you point and then attack the ball on your signal.

Either way, the keys to this drill are:

1. Shuffle fast - footwork is important

2. DO NOT CROSS YOUR FEET OR TOUCH YOUR FEET TOGETHER - STAY ON YOUR TOES

3. Finish it off by fielding cleanly and getting your body into a proper throwing position.
