Gap Drill

This drill is intended for outfielders only, but the infielders may be involved by having them run cutoffs and hit the appropriate bases.

Set up a normal outfield and infield, and start from either the mound or the edge of the infield and outfield. Hit balls in the gaps between the outfielders, and have them converge on the ball, with one calling the other off and one backing him up. The one who fields the ball should run on an angle behind the ball and field it moving forward. At this point, he should have his body in position to hit the cutoff on the glove side.
