Find the Ball Drill

For catchers, one of the hardest things to learn is how to shed the catcher's mask and find a popup hit behind or near the plate.

1) Start your catcher in their crouched position, in full gear.
2) Throw the catcher a popup, mixing up where you are throwing it and shout "hit!"
3) The catcher will ideally toss the mask off, find the ball and most importantly, turn his back to the infield, as the ball will be spinning away from him.

Key to Drill:

For catcher: Turn your back, get as much directly under the ball as possible.
