Double Play Drill

This drill is extremely useful because you only need four players to accomplish it and can set up multiple sets of bases for more reps.

Set up a first and second base, with a player at short, 2nd, 1st and one to roll the balls.

1. Have the player roll a ball to short.
2. Have the player roll a ball to 2nd.
3. Have a player roll a ball to 1st.
4. Have a player roll a ball between 1st and 2nd and play it as a situation.
5. Have a player roll the ball towards 2nd base but on the shortstop side, and have the shortstop take it himself.

Make sure that all four players rotate each time. Each player should get to play each position during each of parts 1-5.

This drill is extremely important for teaching footwork on turning the double play.
