Downhill Plane Pitching Drill:

This is another hard drill to master. The goal of this drill is to teach the pitcher to always throw the ball on a downhill angle.

The Drill:

Have two players sit indian-style approximately 12-15 feet apart without their gloves. With the ball in their throwing hand and a 4-seam fastball grip, the student should support their throwing elbow with their non-throwing arm, not allowing the arm to move whatsoever. Using only their wrist, the thrower should flip the ball to their teammate on a downhill plane, with maximum spin.

Points of Emphasis:

1.  Landing the ball short of their partner is fine, because it means they are throwing downhill.
2. The thrower should NOT try to throw as hard as possible.
